Kerry

Owner

Kerry has had a lifelong passion for animals, which naturally led her to a career in animal health. With nearly 25 years of experience in the industry—starting in a veterinary hospital and now serving as a Veterinary Diagnostic Consultant with IDEXX—she brings a deep knowledge of animal care and health management to Rafter O.

Her journey with goats began in 2015 and quickly became a true passion. Dedicated to improving the Mini Nubian breed, Kerry is an active leader in the dairy goat community. She currently serves as President of the Texas Mini Milkers, is a Lifetime Member of the Miniature Dairy Goat Association (MDGA), and volunteers as the MDGA Live Show Chair. Rafter O is also proudly affiliated with the American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA). In recognition of her commitment to herd health, Kerry is certified as a Quality Dairy Producer by the American Institute for Goat Research at Langston University.

Kerry is equally passionate about Livestock Guardian Dogs and their essential role in protecting small farms and heritage livestock. The Rafter O has been home to Maremmas and Kangals, and in 2025, we will begin a Kangal Dog breeding program focused on preserving the integrity and working ability of this incredible breed. With their power, intelligence, and natural guarding instincts, Kangals have proven to be exceptional protectors of our herd. Kerry is a member of the Kangal Dog Club of America and the Texas Livestock Guardian Dog Association, and she is committed to responsible breeding practices that prioritize health, temperament, and function in real farm environments.
