Poppy is a beautiful young doe who represents the very best of our breeding program. She combines the strength of our treasured Clover maternal line with the power and consistency of our outstanding herd sire, Tundra, making her a true genetic goldmine and an elegant, promising package.

Her conformation is a harmonious blend of her dam and granddam, showcasing balance, dairy character, and correctness throughout. From her level topline and strong feet and legs to her feminine head and smoothly blended front end, Poppy displays exactly the kind of structure we aim to reproduce generation after generation.

As a first freshener, Poppy has exceeded even our highest expectations. Her mammary system has proven exceptional, featuring the best foreudder we’ve produced in our herd to date, along with impressive capacity, balance, and overall dairy strength. Those qualities quickly caught the attention of judges in the show ring, where she earned her championship and achieved the remarkable milestone of becoming a Finished Champion as a first freshener.

Poppy earns top honors in the Senior Yearling class at the Virtual Show!  In a field of 23 entries, she placed 4th in one ring for her long, level topline, level rump, strong legs, and impressive body capacity, and 8th in the other for her length, substance of bone, and well-sprung ribs. A strong showing that highlights her quality and promise.

🌼 Name Origin

Prickly Poppy is undoubtedly an apt name for this lovely flower. They are easy to grow and attract nectar and pollen-gathering insects. You are almost sure to see a bee of some kind when you look into one of these large, frilly white blooms. Plant Prickly Poppies where you can enjoy them from a distance, as they really are prickly! The foliage is a blue-green color, and the leaves somewhat resemble fresh Swiss chard, with white ribs running down the veins.
